Background: Obesity has become one of the most important health problems worldwide. Body mass index (BMI) is a clinical assessment overweight and obesity in children, although mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) more straightforward, especially for parents. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate relationship between MUAC BMI children aged 6 - 12 years. Methods: cross-sectional was performed on 455 elementary school 12, including 278 girls 177 boys with mean age 8.8 ± 1.8 years selected using census method. Our researcher trained anthropometric data collection. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 25 software Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: The 9.19 years, height 135 cm, weight 31.85 11 kg, 21 3.1 17 3.6 kg/m2. There significant correlation both sexes, but it stronger than (P-value < 0.05). cutoff point 23.75 cm (77% sensitivity 80% specificity) 24.75 (93% 88% overweigh girls, respectively. Also, 23.25 (88% 83% 25.25 (87% 90% boys, Conclusions: We recommend as predictor early diagnosis obesity.

Relationship between Mid-Upper Arm Circumference and Body Mass Index in Inpatients
INTRODUCTION Nutritional screening is a fundamental aspect of the initial evaluation of the hospitalised patient. Body Mass Index (BMI) in association with other parameters is a good marker of malnutrition (<18.5 kg/m2), but it presents the handicap that the great majority of patients cannot be weighed and measured. For this reason it is necessary to find other indicators that can be measured i...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to determine the cut-off values for waist circumference (WC) and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and to assess their use in screening for obesity in children. METHODS Anthropometric measurements of a total of 2621 boys and 2737 girls aged 6-17 years were analyzed. WC and MUAC values were compared with ROC analysis using body mass index (BMI) cut-off ...
متن کاملLow Mid-Upper Arm Circumference, Calf Circumference, and Body Mass Index and Mortality in Older Persons
BACKGROUND Low body mass index is a general measure of thinness. However, its measurement can be cumbersome in older persons and other simple anthropometric measures may be more strongly associated with mortality.
